  1. Hey, I work with the CheapOair travel blog (cheapoair.typepad.com) and we’re interested in having you guest blog for us. Please contact me if you’re interested. Thanks! Aldo.

  2. Hi, Lauren! My name is Dominique, and I’m from Newport Beach, CA. I randomly came across your site (fabulous btw) while researching aston english schools and their locations. Your videos and advice have been a huge help, and I love your style of writing and sense of humor! I’m not scheduled to leave for china until february, so I have some time to determine where I want to teach and which schools are best. I have been to Hangzhou before for a business trip with my Dad in Feb of ’06, and I had a pleasant experience (the lake there is well-known for its beauty) although most of the food was a bit outlandish to say the least (jelly fish soup anyone?) So how much longer will you be in china?

    • Hi Dominique!

Thank you for such lovely comments! I’m glad I can help and am happy to answer any more questions you have- I know how overwhelming of a decision it can be! Hangzhou is lovely (one of my favorite cities I’ve been to). Xiamen is also a great city and near the beach, which being a beach bum myself is one thing I definitely miss living where I do now. Also, check out Dalian- I haven’t been there, but it’s supposed to be one of the nicest cities in China. I’m moving to Shanghai in a month for a journalism internship and will stay until at least December, unless I fall into a more permanent position. If you want any more info on China, teaching or Aston in general, feel free to email me at lhogan10@gmail.com…I’d love to help any way I can. I also just wrote this post for Go! Overseas on things I wish I knew before teaching, I don’t know if it’ll help you at all, but might offer a few helpful tips: http://www.goteachabroad.com/teach-abroad-blog/things-wish-knew-teaching-in-china/2205

Good luck with everything and definitely keep me posted on what you decide to do!
